And in this corner of readermatchlandia you'll find a thoughtful, kind, easy-going, fun-loving, funny (occasionally hilarious), sporty chick looking for a partner in crime. My work days are spent with children, counseling, encouraging, advocating, giving many hugs, playing with playdough, and in general trying to teach them skills to be successful little humans. I'm extremely dedicated to my work, which can be pretty intense, so I am also dedicated to balancing it out by having as much fun as possible in my free time. I enjoy playing and watching sports, frolicking outside, reading, playing with my amazing nephews, organizing parties or events, running, and dreaming and planning my next travel adventure and/or service trip. I've been to some pretty cool places in the world (Guatemala, Nepal, Colombia most recently) and plan to continue feeding my very hungry travel bug. Just booked a trip to hike Machu Picchu next June!
I don't have a cookie cutter of a match that I'm looking for, but I believe that some sort of an intelligent, passionate, athletic gent who finds a balance between enjoying life and working hard to make the world a better place would be a good fit for me. It would be a blast if it were someone who enjoys observing and discussing how things and people work, and gives me a run for my money in board games, political discussions, and the sports field. Got game?
The best thing about Chicago is: the variety of things to do, places to go, people to hang out with. And a wide variety of seasons in which to enjoy them.
My most embarrassing moment was when: I mistakenly called my gyno when I thought I was calling my dentist, and started the appointment-making process by apologetically saying I was "overdue for a cleaning..."
My favorite physical activity is: just one? Favorites are field and ice hockey, running, walking, soccer, swimming, some others...
One thing I love that everyone else hates is: washing dishes
If I could have a dinner party and invite any four people, dead or alive, the guest list would be: Barack Obama, Ellen Degeneres, my cousin Ben Franklin, and Bill Ayers.
My favorite Chicago haunts are: Will's, Brauhaus, Old Town School of Folk Music, Four Moons, Village Tap, lakefront path, Winnemac Park, many more...
The first thing I do when I wake up is: press snooze for a loooong time, wish I had woken up early enough for a run, pour a cup of coffee
My radio dial is usually tuned to: XRT or NPR
On a Saturday night you will likely find me: out and about, or hosting a shindig. Definitely doing something fun that involves a combination of music, friends, and beer or wine.
The last concert I went to was: hopefully already outdated by the next concert I went to see...
My theme song is You Can Call me Al
If you have a pet, it better not be 8-legged
The quickest way to my heart is kindness The quickest way to my bed is coyness and in the morning, I like my eggs cooked with lots of ketchup on the side
The person I'd like to tell off most is whoever is sending around the false propaganda emails about health care reform.
Spin class makes me sweat.
I consider myself an open-minded person, but my deal breakers are bigotry and unnecessary anger
